1.3 Vela was the everyday model of the Nox 1.3 family and available on every plan, including Free. It ran on a 30-billion-parameter hybrid Mamba-Transformer mixture-of-experts engine that activated 3 billion parameters per token. Nox Vela 2 replaced it on September 23, 2026.
Vela was Light 1.1's successor: the 1.3 generation's cleaner organisation at a latency low enough that replies landed in roughly the time the question took to read.
The engine combined Mamba sequence layers with Transformer attention in a mixture-of-experts design: 30 billion total parameters with 3 billion active per token, with reasoning behavior configurable to match the task.
Its context window was roughly 262,000 tokens. Vela itself was text-only; when a photo was attached, Nox handled it automatically with a compatible vision model. It carried the family's shared tools: inline charts, connected-app actions, and consent-gated live web access with cited sources.
1.3 Vela was succeeded by Nox Vela 2 on September 23, 2026 — the same speed class with higher accuracy, and still available on every plan, including Free.
